About this page

This page has been written especially for people who donate to Vision. It's all about how we use your personal information. We know there's a lot to read, but we want you to understand exactly what data we store, why we need it, and what your rights are.

Your profile

Your profile is where we save your personal details. The more information you tell us, the more detailed your profile will be. This is the safest and most effective way to store your data, because everything's in one place and can easily be accessed, updated or deleted (see 'Your Rights' section below).

About Vision

Vision is a registered charity working with young people in Rossendale. Please see the 'Help' section at the end of the page for more details.

Personal information

Your name

Every time you donate to Vision, we'll record your full name (if we know it) to identify you as the donor on our financial records.

Your contact details

When you donate, we may ask for some contact details so we can say 'thank you'. If you provide your contact details, you can also choose to receive email updates or newsletters in the post from Vision. Financial supporters are not obliged to provide any contact details, except for Gift Aid donations where we'll need your full name and home address.

Bank details

To set up a Direct Debit, you'll need to provide your bank details to the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) who will provide their own privacy notice. Vision does not store bank details of financial supporters.

Other information

If you visit Woodlea Mission for any of our all-age events, or if you're also a parent, carer or volunteer, please read our other Privacy Notices which include information about other data we may collect, such as photos, videos or CCTV footage.

What we share

Fundraising news

Vision's Director or Finances Team will often encourage volunteers and supporters by sharing news about donations, especially if a large sum has been received or raised for a particular project or activity. In this context, names of individual donors are never shared. (In fact, the majority of Vision volunteers do not know the names of the charity's financial supporters.)

Financial records

As a registered charity, Vision's financial records (including details of every donation) must be shared with our accountants, our bank, and other financial bodies as required. If you've completed a Gift Aid Declaration, we'll also need to share your name and address with HMRC so that eligible donations can be verified.

Personal details are removed from all other financial reports, including annual information submitted to the Charity Commission and Companies House.

Trusted service providers

Vision is a small charity, so we use larger, trusted service providers to help us store our data safely and securely.

Legal reasons

Like all charities, there are times when the law says that we must provide information to the police or other authorities.

Your rights

The right to update your info

Using the Privacy Dashboard, you can update your contact details at any time.

The right to opt-out

Using the Privacy Dashboard, you can opt-out of any event reminders or other updates that you asked us to send to you. You can also ask us to delete data that you previously gave consent for us to store (see 'Data collected with your consent' in the next section).

The right to see your data

You can ask to see a copy of all the data we store on your profile. Please complete our contact form.

Our promise

We want you to be able to trust us with your personal information, so here's our promise:

1. We'll only ask for information that we really need.

2. We'll do everything we can to keep your data safe.

3. We'll only share your details as outlined on this page.

How long is data saved?

Data collected with your consent

Some data is stored because we have your consent to do so (this may include your email address and mobile phone number). Data collected by consent will be stored for up to 2 years after your last donation, unless you ask us to delete it.

Legal obligation

By law, we must keep financial records for 6 years, so we can't remove donation details or Gift Aid declarations earlier than this.
